Reading

Situated in Berkshire at the meeting point of the Thames and Kennet Rivers Reading benefits from it’s proximity to London, Oxford and the M4. Pilgrims journeyed to the town to visit the Abbey until it was dissolved by Henry VIII. Reading continued to prosper however thanks to its cloth industry and later the brewing trade for which it became famous.

Today pedestrianised Broad Street is the heart of a thriving shopping centre with the Oracle shopping centre at one end of the road. There is a wealth of restaurants, cafes and bars plus theatres, cinemas and museums. In addition, visitors to Reading can take advantage of the still navigable waterways with river cruises operating various routes from Henley-upon-Thames bridge to Mapledurham Watermill and Mapledurham House. Every year Reading also plays host to the famous Reading Festival and the Reading Fringe festival.
