A brief history of Mansfield

Mansfield is a market town in Nottinghamshire, East Midlands. The town sits 12 miles north of Nottingham in the Maun Valley and has an estimated population of around 99,600 inhabitants. Chesterfield, Worksop and Newark-on-Trent lie on its border.

Notable names to be born in the town include Olympic gold-medal-winning swimmer Rebecca Adlington and golfer Greg Owen. Late singer Alvin Stardust lived in Mansfield as a child.
