    • Jake's Cars are a local taxi company to me that I have been using for a few months now, and the service with them is always excellent. The staff are very friendly and they always turn up on time, if there is any reason they may be a little later than expected they let me know which is great.     • This is the worst taxi company I have ever used! I rang a month in advance to take 31 people to Lingfield Races from 3 pick up points. We were told that we would get mini buses...only one 6 seater arrived and the rest were cars. They were nearly half an hour late picking us up...and didn't send enough cars so some people were left behind and had to wait another 20 minutes for another car to arrive making them nearly an hour late! The driving was pretty horrendous on the way there. They were completely unorganised! I rang them during the evening to double check that they were picking us up from the correct meeting point which they confirmed that they were but they didn't turn up leaving us all stranded at Lingfield! When we were trying to ring them to find out where our taxis were they either didn't pick up the phone but when they did they just hung up on us.     • The worst taxi service in the UK! I can't understand why they're still allowed to operate. Made advanced booking (as broadly advertised on their taxis "Advanced Booking Only") and gave them custom for three months. When I informed them that I wouldn't need their services during the Christmas break but would require it after that, this rude woman bluntly told me that they can't offer me advanced booking anymore! When asked why, she rudely offered a flimsy excuse that it's due to road works! Flabbergasted, I told her that taxis were arriving on time for us and that it was fine. She refused. When school reopened, her colleague reinstated our advanced booking. First week was fine. 2nd week, a taxi arrived on a non-booked day. I reminded the driver of my booked days. Later called United Taxis to confirm that their drivers were aware of my booked days. Their response - my booking had been cancelled. Why? Because I didn't use a taxi that I had NOT booked for! Is this in the UK?!! Shambolic!!!

    • Follow on with the previous review by Christopher, I would like to say that the stranger who picked you up is not a licenced taxi driver. In fact, I believed his name is Tim and he currently working at Ashdown Cars as a telephone personnel. He told me when he collected me in his personal car (which is NOT a licenced taxi) I have kept quiet up until now. Letter or a phone call to their council I think.

    • I pre-booked a return journey with Ashdown Cars from the Cooper's Arms in Cooper's Lane, Crowborough at 10.20pm on a Saturday evening after a party as I needed to get the last train to London from Crowborough which was at 10.44pm. The Ashdown car never showed and I had to convince a stranger to give me a lift in his taxi to avoid missing my train. From 10.20pm to 10.45 pm I called the Ashdown number 18 times (my phone recorded the number of calls I made) and it was engaged on all 18 occasions. I assume that they had left the phone off the hook and gone home. Very poor service indeed (or indeed, non-existent!) I would advise against using this company unless you like unreliable service!

    • The drivers @ Ashdown Cars are ok, but the owner of the business, I will not give him the time of day. Rude and abusive, there was an incident happened at a local pub car park the other day, I could not believed what I saw, stay away from this horrible human being. I will never use Ashdown, will use Crowborough Cabs, Stuart's Taxi or Miles Private Hire instead.

    • Came past Crowborough the other evening, saw one of the driver in a black Ford Galaxy, GJ08*** if I remember correctly, has different colour light on top of the taxi,he was travelling by the Alderbrook area doing way over the speed limit, thought it was a police car to start off until he past me at speed, then I realised it was a cab. Shocking driving by the driver, get him off the road before he cause an accident, will report to the police and council, will never use your service. Shocking behavioir
