About Us

From the North of England I was born in 1960 and grew up in Warrington a town that lived up to its name. Getting out cost me four years in the air force after which I began art-making seriously. Studying too: a philosophy degree from York was followed by doctoral research at the RCA in London. More valuable experience was had painting with and learning from artists who were better established: notably Nick Samsworth and the late Miles Richmond. I have lived in Brixton working from a studio in my home there ever since. Exhibiting in London and elsewhere around the millennium and into the 00s I had success with some of my figurative painting always the publicly acceptable face of my practice. Appropriately enough these mainly were my quasi-formulaic Heads poorly reproduced examples of which may be found elsewhere on the web. But my real work has never been properly shown. For the following reasons I argue this is the perfect time for that situation to be put right.
