Lounge on the Green is an informal, modern fine dining restaurant situated in the heart of the beautiful village of Houghton, north of the city of Carlisle. Established in 2017, the independently run restaurant is operated by acclaimed local chef, James Hill. James and his talented team of chefs are passionate about bringing a high-end, contemporary dining experience to the area, creating menus and dishes that are led by the seasons and showcase the best of British and European ingredients. A commitment to local, seasonal and sustainable food informs everything that they do, as does a desire to provide exemplary customer service. Lounge On The Green offers a five and seven course tasting menu with the option to add a drink pairings with each course. The restaurant was listed in The Good Food Guide 2020 and this year was listed in The MICHELIN Guide 2022 and given Two Rosettes By The AA We were also in the Final three for Restaurant of the Year 2022 in the Cumbrian Food Awards. - In a review that appeared in The Guardian, the highly regarded food critic Grace Dent described James's food as "unpretentious but definitely forward-reaching" and her "go-to place for fine-dining in Carlisle".
