About Us

The Sewing Centre was opened by Mr B Scales over thirty years ago. Mr Scales had worked in the business previously and took over to build one of the most well stocked shops in London. Today the business is run by son Chris Scales and has developed into having a great reputation for friendly professional staff who offer first rate quality of service. The Sewing Centre's customers range from leading fashion houses, wedding dress designers, West End hotels, home based, and industrial companies located in South London. A mail order service is available subject to conditions and we offer free delivery on all domestic machines. We also deal with industrial machines, we have some of the most popular machines up and built however most industrials are built to order (for customer preference). For delivery costs please contact us and we can get you a quote for delivery to your area as delivery is not free on industrial machines. We also stock second hand and reconditioned machines. A range of haberdashery including, cottons, reels, needles, pins, dyes, parts and accessories. The Sewing Centre offers a complete range of industrial and domestic machines with names such as: Brother Bernina Singer Janome Elna Toyota Bernette Babylock Juki Jack and many other leading manufactures. Hire machines are available for those occasions when your machine is out of action and you need to get a job completed or meet a deadline. Our hire machines are available on long and short term contracts. Please contact us for further details. We hire domestic machines (usually Janome) that are very durable and well built for around £10 per day (please email us with how long you need the machine and we can send you a quote) We also hire Industrial machines (usually Juki or Jack) for around £70 per week (please email us with how long you need the machine and we can send you a quote) Please note: if you urgently need a hire machine please let us know in advance so if we do not have any available we can build a new one for you to hire. The Sewing Centre is an authorised agent for All brands (including Bernina, Brother and Janome) and has reasonable prices for both Domestic and Industrial machines To find out more about our range of machines please view our products area.
