Helping stray and unwanted dogs find happier tomorrows...
Our mission is to rescue, reunite and re-home the lost, abused and abandoned dogs from the streets of the West Midlands and South Staffordshire. Your support is the vital lifeline to our success in giving these unfortunate dogs a new start in life Birmingham Dogs Home was founded in 1892 on land made available by the late Sir Alfred Gooch Bart in New Canal Street, Birmingham. Sadly this building, which over a century later still had Birmingham Home for Lost and Starving Dogs' proudly displayed above its doors, was destroyed in a fire during 2014 but from the foundations established at this humble building, the charity continues to exist and grow. Sunnyside houses 100 strays in state-of-the-art accommodation complete with veterinary consulting room and isolation unit for dogs requiring special, one-to-one care and treatment. The kennels, which we believe are one of the best purpose-built homes in the UK, are surrounded by green fields and towering trees which allow for excellent exercise facilities and the opportunity for potential owners to walk and get to know their dog of choice better.

About Us The rescue group was formed in March 2012 when a national cat charity closed its West Oxon branch and it was decided that a new group must be formed to continue on the work that is so desperately needed. Indeed, many of our members are former volunteers of this national charity, with many years' experience caring for sick and unwanted cats and kittens, including the county's feral cat population.
