Since acquiring Spice Gate a few months ago, the new team has been working hard to re-establish Spice Gate as one of the very best Indian restaurants and takeaways in Friern Barnet, indeed in north London. You will notice the entire menu has been reviewed and refreshed. Several tasty new dishes have been added and ever-popular classics given some extra zest and refinement. Owned & run by brothers Tom & James Bainbridge, The White Hart offers varied menus, real ales, an extensive gin range, cocktails & an exciting wine list. The White Hart dates back to 1681 and it was Welwyn's main coaching inn. It was a popular overnight stop for travellers going north from London and at one point it offered fourteen beds for humans and stabling for thirty four horses. It was also home to the village courtroom, where petty sessions were held, when misdemeanours may have included theft and assault and, ironically, drunkenness. For lunch & dinner the restaurant offers an A la Carte menu as well as a bar snack & sharers menu. The bar is open all day where you can pop in for a pint of real ale or have cocktails & G&T's before your meal. The extensive wine list consists of wines carefully selected by one of the brothers James who enjoys nothing more than recommending & discussing wine. The hotel's hidden gem is the function space, the old court room of Welwyn. Sue and her team are excited to welcome you to the White Horse Free House a family friendly pub/restaurant nestled in the village of Wareside Hertfordshire. The White Horse offers a selection of home cooked meals including traditional Greek dishes. Sue is of Greek origin and together with her Chef who has over 30 years of experience they have created a mouth-watering menu. The menu includes dishes such as the classic Lamb Kleftiko - Lamb which is cooked slowly with garlic, tomatoes and herbs and simply falls off the bone, the meat moussaka, the vegetarian moussaka the Meze for two or more people and of course who can resist the Greek sweet pastries.
