On retiring, I decided to re-train as a teacher of English and earned a diploma and two certificates in teaching English. Over the years, I have also gained qualifications in Latin, German, Spanish and Italian. These additional languages assist me in my understanding of the mistakes that English students often make - and how best to help them speak and read English correctly and more naturally. In addition to teaching English, I can enrich the experience with accompanied visits to traditional country houses, castles and their gardens. This gives the student a greater understanding of the cultural and historical development of the English language. It also allows them to experience conversational English that develops as a natural consequence of being in an interesting and stimulating environment.
