A brief history of Northampton

Northampton is the county town of Northamptonshire in the East Midlands of England. The town lies on the banks of the River Nene and sits approximately 67 miles north-west of London. At the time of the 2011 census, Northampton had an estimated population of around 212,069 inhabitants.
