Glencraig Gospel Hall
Local Places Of Worship in Ceres, Cupar, Fife01592 84084301592 84084326.9 milesGlencraig together with its larger neighbours the villages of Crosshill, Lochore and Ballingry form a community now known as the Benarty Area. The name is taken from the hill of the same name that dominates the skyline to the immediate north of the village. To the south lies the small town of Lochgelly and to the West, situated on a reclaimed coal mining area, is the popular Lochore Meadows Country Park. The population is estimated at somewhat over 5,000 residents. The Gospel Hall is a long-standing feature of the community from its origins in the mining community of Glencraig, a move in 1970 to a new hall in Ballingry, to its present location adjacent to the entrance to Lochore Meadows Country Park. For more details on our history please go to the history section of our website. The Gospel Hall is well known in the community for its evangelical activity. Regular open air meetings are held in the area on Sunday evenings throughout the year. For many years extended series of special gospel meetings have been held in the late summer months in a large tent. Latterly the tent has been pitched at The Milton off Park Street in Crosshill, but in the past there have been meetings held in a field off Manse Road in Glencraig and close to the Jenny Gray nursing home in Lochgelly. At other times of year meetings are held in the BRAG Community Centre in Crosshill or in the Benarty Community Centre in Ballingry. In addition many of the residents of the village have at some time or another been to Sunday School or Children's Meetings held either in the 'new' hall at Southfield avenue or the old hall in Glencraig. A fairly recent addition to our gospel outreach has been the development of the Scotland Needs The Gospel evangelical leaflets and associated website - scotlandneedsthegospel.org.uk. Please feel free to browse the articles and links available there or to contact us through the website for further information or free literature. The Christians who meet at the Gospel Hall are not associated with any wider church group. We meet as a New Testament local church in accordance with the words spoken by the Lord Jesus in Matthew's Gospel chapter 18 verse 20, "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them". All of our meetings are open to the public and you will receive a warm welcome if you join us. For details of the times of our meetings please go to the Diary section of this site. If you are coming along for the first time we would recommend that you join us for our Sunday night Gospel Meeting, but if that doesn't suit we would love to see you at any of our meetings. -
