Taxis in Colchester, Essex

Top company, have used a couple of times and never had a issue and always on time which makes a change from other companies used!

What an awful experience. Smoky, uncomfortable taxis but the worst points were 1. They didn't turn up when booked in advance- we called and they came late but we were then late for our appointment 2. They charged us nearly double the price quoted on the phone and were completely lacking in concern when we dared to argue about the price. Never again - there are many other good taxi companies around the area

First time trying to use this company and I won't bother again. I called about 1.5 hours before I needed a pick up from our local station and they asked me to pay in advance which I was happy to do but when we got off the train at our local station the taxi wasn't there. I called and was informed that they had just finished a job but were still 15-20 mins away. The walk home takes about the same time so my husband and i just walked home in the pitch black. Rather infuriatingly, I was told I couldn't have a refund straight away and that I would need to call on the next working day to arrange this. Not happy as I paid in advance in good faith so I feel like I have been ripped off.

They are brilliant, timing, car and service quality are 5 star. Our driver Tony, was very polite and he has comfortable driving skill. Thanks for tonight.

No cab company is perfect, but they are I suppose better than walking. Especially when its raining. Or snowing. Or in a blizzard. Or something like that. Actually, or even when its too hot. They have air-con in most of their motors. Yeah OK, that ain't much use in a blizzard. But it is when its hot. Like it was a couple of weeks back. All sorts of drivers though. Some are stupid, some are OK. I spose much like any other cab company. But, unlike the previous review, I would use them again, but I wont recommend them to anyone, as if I do, they might get too busy and I might not get a cab myself.

I had a taxi booked for my mum from her home to the Colchester train station. The taxi arrived 20 minutes late, which meant she missed her train and had to buy a new ticket. She was still made to pay for the taxi after waiting in the rain and was hung up on when she tried to find out how long it would be. Very disappointing, I'd use Panther Cabs instead - much more reliable, and much kinder staff.

My van broke down, I needed to get to work. 577777 taxis were the only company available . All other taxi firms were busy with school runs !! They arrived within 5 minutes of calling and got me to work in no time. Rates were reasonable too. I will be definitely be using them again.,,

Always late to arrive, extremely overpriced, especially when they argue what route to take even when you have been living in the same place for 20 years

Always reliable never had any problems getting a taxi at short notice when others have failed.

Great cab office, always friendly and helpful. Don't charge any extra for late night trips. Always use these and highly recommend them to all.

Arrived 50 minutes late, no call to say they were running late. No apology. Defiantly one to avoid!

Never had a bad service in the 4 years I have been using .... sons school taxi, daughter home from hospital and generally by the rest of us. I definitely recommend this lovely company x

Pre-ordered a taxi several days ahead (and confirmed electronically by the taxi firm)) for five people going to our annual Xmas party in Ipswich. First pick up 6.00 in Wivenhoe, three further local pick-ups for 7.00 arrival to outskirts of Ipswich. No taxi arrived by 6.30 and when approached their very unhelpful attendant stated ' but we are very busy '. I phoned again 5 mins. later only to be told again 'very busy' ! We had no choice but to cancel the taxi and drive ourselves to the venue. Utterly unacceptable behaviour from an irresponsible business. We did get the pre-arranged after midnight service home after checking that during the evening that this was actually going to turn up. Ancient taxi arrived, appeared to be devoid of good lighting and no sat nav facility. The driver was ok. As a result of this we had to arrange transport the following morning to collect our vehicles from the venue. Don't go near them, they completely weigh up 'what's wrong with the modern world'

DO NOT USE! I booked two taxis with at least four weeks in advance. They had taken money out of my account prior to this as well. In my eyes, this would mean your taxi is secure, but how wrong I was. Our first taxi was meant to be with us at half six, after four phone calls, the taxi FINALLY arrived at 7.10, 40 minutes late! There was no apology at all from the man on the phone. I then had prebooked a taxi for 10.30pm, at 10.15, they messaged to say they had a busy service and just deleted my taxi. With no warning, or with no other option. Utterly disgraceful service, will never be using again.

Booked a Cab online at 12.30 for 18.30 that night. Got a text at 18.04 telling me that the cab was cancelled due to high demarnd. How is this the case when I booked 6 hours prior. Fuming. Called 543210 (hawaii 5-0 cabs) and came in 10 minutes

Had a taxi booked with all the 8s in April to take and collect us from Stansted in August. A few week before we were due to be picked up we had an email saying the company has been taken over . We were concerned as we have never had a taxi to an airport, They were brilliant on time for pick up . We were concerned as flight delayed 2 hours from Turkey on arrival home and worried they wouldnt be there. We literally got a text and within 2 minutes of waiting in section B Dave was there, Thanks and would deffo recommend them

Totally let down on taxi booking to a wedding without any notification whatsoever causing 7 potential future customers unnecessary stress, will definately not use nor recommend this company.

I booked a taxi in the morning (10am) for a taxi at 1.35pm. At 1.40 i called to ask where my taxi was; and there was no taxi even dispatched for me. When I got in, the driver asked why I booked my taxi so late!! RUDE service, terrible timings; how can I book a taxi and not have one sent out to me on time if Ive booked it so far in advance.

Hopeless ! Avoid at all costs . They take your booking knowing they havent got a cab spare for your time slot . Its happened to me 3 times in 2 weeks now leaving me late for work . No apology . Nothing . Go elsewhere .

Fast taxi service! When ever I call up and book a taxi, the taxi turns up in just 3 minutes on my door! Quick service!

Booked them for a pick up last week, didn't arrive and were very rude and abusive on the phone when I called to ask where they were. Just no need for the aggressive attitude, I would say avoid as there are plenty of other companies about.

A lovely, family owned business. I use Riverside Taxis a lot and have found that they will always go the extra mile to help you if they can. They are very reliable and have friendly drivers. Highly recommended.

Most recent experience was waiting for me whilst on a delayed train from London. The original pick up was scheduled for 12:30am where I actually arrived at 02:30am. Ash kept in touch and still met me otherwise I would have been stranded.

Best company in manningtree! Friendly realiable & very likeable drivers to! Also clean cars with nice smells! Will def be making this my taxi company to use! Thank you riverside taxis!
